The local branch meets up at different pubs throughout the year to discuss issues, socialise with a beer and good company, taste guest beers and vote in the often controversial pub of the year awards!
Don’t think that branch events only appeal to older male drinkers with beer bellies – the present committee has one of the highest female ratios in the CAMRA branch network.

I’ve really enjoyed the 2 recent meetings to present the POTY awards. There is a really friendly relaxed atmosphere since the last AGM.

Hi
I was wondering if this was the right forum to notify you of pubs that should never get an award! The Railway Douglas has started serving guest beers which is a welcome change from the Okells, however, after 3-5 in an evening I always get a hangover, yet 8/9 in the Rovers and not even a hint. The reason is I believe that they do not clean out their pipes regularly (I have experienced these symptoms before at other pubs when I know this has happened). I have sent two emails to the Brewery to express my concern but have not ever had the courtesy of a reply so I will no doubt have to write formally. Two of my friends also experiece the same problem. It spoils a night when there is a nice real ale to try when you know your going to suffer the next morning no matter how few you have. Has anyone else experienced similar or would a nudge from IOM Camra coerce some cleaning?
